Finnish National Open Science Coordination engages the entire research community and has over 300 active experts in its working groups. The coordination is supported by the National Open Science Secretariat working within the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies.

Open Science and Research Initiative
Open Science and Research Inititative (2014-2017) was a project of Ministry of Education and Culture, which developed important guidelines for promoting Finnish open science. The Inititative was based on extensive cooperation between ministries, universities, research institutes and research funders.

The Declaration for Open Science and Research 2025–2030 is an update to the previous Declaration for Open Science and Research 2020–2025. The declaration is elaborated in more detail by four national open science policies, which further define and explain the concepts used in the declaration.

Open education
Technological advances give teachers new opportunities to share their teaching materials to a wider user community and even run online teaching sessions. However, opening up learning and teaching is also challenging and raises many technical, legal and cultural questions.
Open Education is education that often takes place using digital technology. The aim is to expand access to and participation in learning by lowering barriers and increasing its accessibility, supply and learner-centeredness.
Culture of open scholarship
Openness has always been part of responsible research. However, in a short time, what is meant by openness has changed. New digital tools and society's expectations create opportunities, but they also push the research community to increase the transparency of research and change the ways in which research is carried out, how results are disseminated and how researchers are rewarded.
