The secretariat of the Committee for Public Information has welcomed Ella Ranta as a new addition to the team. Ella will assist the secretariat in its communications and events.
The temporary position is focused in particular on the upcoming seminar day intended for science communication professionals at The Science Forum 2025. The event will continue the discussion on the Science Barometer, which is due to be published in autumn 2024.
The event is the second of its kind. The seminar day of 2023 likewise focused on the 2022 barometer, which for the first time assessed citizens' attitudes to science in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and the new security environment.
Ella has previously interned in the communications and production of The Science Forum and The Night of Science 2023. After her internship, she completed her Master's in Political History and worked as an administrative assistant at the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The Science Barometer is an attitude survey published by Tieteen tiedotus, which measures citizens' views on science. The next Science Barometer will be published on 14 November.
The biannual Science Forum is the largest science event in Finland, with a programme of events in different university towns. The Science Forum 2025 will take place from 8 to 12 January. The event is coordinated by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. The full programme will be published in October.
